Ecclesiastes 3:1 3 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:....
Heavenly Father, one of the more important questions we must ask ourselves each day is “how shall we use our gift of time?” Each day is a juggling act as we must first decide the portion of our time to spend in a quiet place before You. Then we carve out the hours during which we should be hard at work; involved in recreational activities; exercising; enjoying social activities; and on and on. Gracious God, since no one but You knows exactly how much time we have left in this life, we would do well to surrender to Your guidance when portioning our days.
Today we seek Your direction when deciding the correct things to do. Whether it is exercising, sleeping, vacationing, working on the mission field, going to the doctor or cleaning our closets; let us hear You and obey. Work or play without You is: pointless, joyless, worrisome, insufferable, miserable, and grievous. On the other hand, all things with You and in-keeping with Your will bring contentment, peace and much satisfaction.
Lord, we honor You when we work hard and when we take time to rest. You ordain them both; and You desire to be a part of it all. This morning we surrender our schedules to You, and trust You to guide us through our days. In Your strength and wisdom, we can keep the delicate balances in life and do all things well. Holy God, we give You our time, our talents, and our all. They were gifts from You in the first place; and now we offer them for Your divine use. Thank You Jesus for the gift of one more day. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
